TURC, established
as a social and community service organization, is recognized by the University
and student government, and plays an active role in the College. Club members
help to maintain trails used by the Maine Audubon Society for their educational
"Secrets of the Forest" tours.
Recent Accomplishments

initiated the Stillwater
River Recreation Plan, which included a recreation survey, and subsequently,
made general recommendations implemented by the University.

including the President of the National Recreation and Park Association
(NRPA) and the Superintendent of Acadia National Park.

Black
Bear Chapter - National Association for Interpretation
Founded in 1999,
the first student NAI chapter in the eastern United States, provides a
forum for park naturalists, historians, and others interested in environmental
interpretation and education. Members work closely with TURC on a
variety of service projects focused on restoring, preserving, and better
understanding our natural and cultural heritage.
