Thanks to the generosity of our alumni and friends, we have received the funds necessary to establish the Forest Resources Faculty and Alumni Centennial Scholarship. As an endowed scholarship, students majoring in forest resource fields, including wildlife, will benefit for generations to come. We would like to grow this scholarship and welcome additional contributions.
The miniature UMaine Bear, sculpted by Forest Hart to commemorate
the 100th anniversary, is still available in very limited quantities. These
sculptures are beautiful and are a wonderful memento of the 100th anniversary.
Maine's governor John Baldacci and New Mexico's governor Bill Richardson
were each given a UMaine Bear when Governor Richardson came to UMaine as
the speaker for the first Governor's Distinguished Lecture series in October
2003. The bear costs $600 with $240 (which is tax deductible) going to
the Courtyard Renovation project.
