Landowners providing public access 

Your care will help keep these working woodlands open for everyone 

This is what is written on a Landshare sign. You have probably seen these green and white, rectangular signs on the side of the road. They are not reality signs or Posted signs. A forest owner with this sign is saying that they accept public use of their land for recreation, as long as the public treats the forest with care and stays aware of the potential damage activities can cause. By displaying a Landshare sign, you are continuing a uniquely Maine tradition of public access to and respect of private forests

Landshare Rules:

• Logging trucks have the right of way
• Avoid driving on muddy roads
• Do not drive off road vehicles in sensitive areas, like wetlands
• Avoid areas where people are working
• Camping and campfires in designated areas only
• Cutting only allowed by permission
• Carry out all trash
